Subspecialty Status for IR

The importance of formally recognising IR as a subspecialty of radiology has been a hot topic of discussion over the past few years, not least due to the immense growth the discipline has undergone.

CIRSE believes that securing subspecialty status in all European countries will not only underpin IR's importance in modern medicine but also afford its practitioners greater control over the future of their discipline.

In line with this, leading IR specialists have created a working paper emphasising the importance of IR's subspecialty status and explaining how countries can obtain it. CIRSE encourages countries in which IR does not have subspecialty status to consider applying for it.

The document can be downloaded by clicking the following link and will also be published in CVIR in the near future.
