Prostate Embolisation, Milan (IT), October 11-12, 2017

Programme Local Host | Faculty | Guest Speaker | Venue | Accommodation

In prostate artery embolisation microspheres are used to block the blood supply to the prostate in order to improve lower urinary tract symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. This procedure has been increasingly gaining popularity in recent years, as patient benefits have already been shown in short and mid-term results. Even though until now OPAE has been mostly used for patients who are unsuitable for surgery, it has the potential to become an alternative for many other patients, such as younger patients with BPH and LUTS wishing to avoid surgery, patients with low grade prostatic tumours or elderly patients with prostatic tumours undergoing hormonal therapy.

Physicians taking part in this year’s ESIR course on prostate embolisation organised by Dr Antonio Rampoldi at the AIMS Academy will learn about patient selection (taking into account factors such as the vascular anatomy of the prostatic gland, urinary obstruction, when to perform a biopsy, etc.), technical aspects (use of cone beam CT, catheter, guidewire and embolic agent selection, etc.), clinical results and follow-up.

The theoretic part of the course will be complemented by three live cases moderated by expert panellists.

PAE SIMULATOR TRAINING

As an additional feature of the course, participants will be able to test their skills on the latest prostate embolisation simulation technology during training sessions taking place throughout the two days.

These trainings will run parallel to the scientific programme (live cases and select lectures) and attendees will be able to participate in half-an-hour group sessions to learn more about the challenging procedure.

Availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Register now to participate in these high-demand training sessions!
