IR Curriculum for Medical Students
In order to make medical students aware of the ever increasing role of IR in hospital medicine, CIRSE has published an undergraduate curriculum of interventional radiology. With a focus on common acute clinical problems and rare clinical conditions where their identification can help avoid a potentially serious outcome, it outlines a core syllabus in the four main fields of interventional radiology:
- Vascular Interventional Radiology
- Non-Vascular Interventional Radiology
- Interventional Radiological Oncology
- Musculoskeletal Interventional Radiology
The curriculum provides medical students with guidance on the learning outcomes required for their residency years and subsequent IR training. The Interventional Radiology Curriculum for Medical Students is now available for download.
National radiological and interventional radiological societies are invited to use this curriculum and adapt it to their needs. This includes the translation in the national language and the promotion at national universities.
