Apply to become a local host for ESIR 2026!

Since 2006, the European School of Interventional Radiology (ESIR) has established itself as the premier clinical procedure course programme for interventional radiology (IR) in Europe. With over 131 courses held across 25 countries, ESIR offers an unparalleled educational experience. Combining lectures, case discussions, and practical components, ESIR ensures that both novices and experts stay ahead of the curve in IR advancements.

ESIR courses feature:

ESIR courses are designed to fit into the concept of MedTechs’ definition of a Third Party Organised Procedure Training (MedTech Europe Code of Ethical Business Practice) and accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®).

Applications are now open to CIRSE members who are interested in hosting an ESIR course at their institution or expert centre in 2026.

General ESIR course criteria:

  • Limited number of participants (based on venue facilities and ideal number of participants per station during hands-on workshops)
  • Duration: 1.5 to max. 2 days
  • Focus on practical aspects such as hands-on workshops, video cases, and interactive discussions
  • Held in a clinical environment
  • Accredited by UEMS (CME points) and MedTech

Requirements to keep in mind:

  • Maximum of 5 non-local faculty members (in addition to any local speakers from the host institution)
  • Room requirements: 1 lecture room, 4-5 session rooms, as well as areas for registration, catering, and exhibition
  • At least 50% of the programme should be considered practical and at least 1/3 of the programme should be hands-on time
