Prostatic artery embolization, Milan/IT, June 26-27, 2025

Over the past 13 years, prostatic artery embolization (PAE) has proven to be a safe and effective treatment for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Observational studies and randomized controlled trials have demonstrated that while surgery may offer superior functional improvements, such as increased flow rate and reduced prostate volume, PAE provides comparable clinical benefits with a higher safety profile and shorter recovery times. This makes PAE a promising option for patients who cannot tolerate surgery, are refractory to medical therapy, or wish to preserve sexual function.

Participants in this ESIR course on PAE, organized by Dr. Antonio Rampoldi, Dr. Marco Solcia, and Dr. Fabiane Barbosa at the AIMS Academy in Milan, will gain comprehensive insights into the fundamentals and techniques of prostatic artery embolization. The course will cover key topics such as patient selection, pre-procedural planning, equipment selection, types of embolic agents, and post-procedural care. Theoretical sessions will be enhanced by interactive video case studies moderated by expert panelists, showcasing complex anatomy, embolization techniques, and strategies to avoid complications.

A significant portion of the course will be dedicated to hands-on training with current catheters, wires, and embolic agents. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice using the latest PAE simulation technology in dedicated training sessions that run parallel to the scientific program. These sessions will offer an excellent chance to refine technical skills and gain practical experience with advanced embolization procedures.

This is a unique opportunity to delve into the intricacies of prostatic artery embolization. Availability is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Register today to enhance your skills, improve patient outcomes, and connect with a network of forward-thinking medical professionals.

Who should attend?

This course is specifically designed for interventional radiologists who have completed their radiology training and are keen to fine-tune their practical skills and expand their knowledge of current treatment options for both routine and technically challenging cases.
