Thyroid thermal ablation, Milan/IT, October 2-3, 2025

Thyroid nodules are very common in the general population. Usually, they are asymptomatic, benign at cytology, and can be followed by observation alone in the majority of cases. Infrequently, benign nodules can grow and cause symptoms, or be malignant, thus requiring treatment. Nowadays, minimally invasive image-guided treatments such as thermal ablation with radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation (MWA), percutaneous laser ablation (LA), or percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) have been proven to be an effective and safe treatment method and represent a valid alternative to surgery in selected cases of benign and malignant thyroid nodules.

This course will discuss thyroid general anatomy, pathophysiology of thyroid nodule formation, and review the most widely adopted minimally invasive treatments, including indications and techniques. Extensive hands-on workshops on various modalities, including laser, radiofrequency, and microwave, will provide delegates with the opportunity to handle current devices and learn about the most advanced technologies in thyroid ablation.

Who should attend?

Organized and led by renowned experts, this ESIR course on thyroid ablation gives experienced interventional radiologists the opportunity to fine-tune their practical skills and learn more about current treatment options for this difficult disease.

Registration

Please note that this course is open only to interventional radiologists who have completed their radiology training. To further multidisciplinary team building, endocrinologists may attend this course together with an interventional radiologist from the same hospital under the registration type “Team Fee.”

The registration fees are as follows:

Early Fee
(until August 7, 2025)
Regular Fee
(as of August 8, 2025)
Course registration€710€920

Reduced registration fees are only available for members of CIRSE in good standing.

Interventional radiologists attending the course may bring with them an endocrinology colleague from the same hospital with whom they work together in a multidisciplinary team. These two physicians will then be able to attend the ESIR course under the “team fee”. A copy of a medical license/certificate listing the endocrinology specialty of the teammate will be required and need to be uploaded. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].

Registration needs to be accompanied by the Confirmation form, signed by the head of department.

These fees include:

  • Course attendance
  • Teaching material for the course
