March 17, 2025 – Further solidifying a long-standing relationship, the Irish Society of Interventional Radiology (ISIR) has become a CIRSE group member this year. ISIR President Dr. David Tuite spoke to us on the history of his society, Irish IR’s collaborations with CIRSE, and the strides that ISIR is making in Ireland to secure the future of interventional radiology.
February 24, 2025 – The European School of Interventional Radiology course on portovenous interventions of the liver will take place in Düsseldorf from April 24-25. Local host Prof. Peter Minko spoke to us about his clinical work and what attendees can expect from the course.
February 14, 2025 – NiSIR, the Nigerian Society of Interventional Radiology, recently became a group member. February 3, 2025 – CVIR Oncology, the first journal dedicated to advancing the field of interventional oncology and related fields in cancer care and patient management, opened for submission today. Editor-in-Chief Prof. Thomas Helmberger spoke to us on the background of the new journal, as well as his personal motivation and hopes for the future.
January 31, 2025 – Registration has just opened for the 2025 International Conference on Complications in Interventional Radiology! We spoke to Scientific Programme Committee Chairpersons Prof. Klaus Hausegger and Prof. Florian Wolf to hear their thoughts on the importance of this meeting.
January 24, 2025 – The Society of Interventional Radiology and Minimally Invasive Therapy in Bosnia and Herzegovina (SIRMIT BH) recently became CIRSE’s newest group member. We spoke to the SIRMIT BH president, Dr. Deniz Bulja, to learn about the foundations of the society and what they hope to gain from CIRSE membership.
January 21, 2025 – The results of the COLLISION trial, showing minimally invasive thermal ablation to have similar outcomes to surgical resection in terms of overall survival, have been published in the Lancet Oncology. Primary investigator Prof. Martijn Meijerink spoke to us about this milestone for interventional oncology.

December 6, 2024 – The CIRSE Fellowship Grant Programme offers CIRSE members the opportunity to apply for a grant to support a one-month training stay at a European centre outside their home country. 20 IRs from around the world took part in the 2024 programme to expand their horizons, make connections, and learn from experts.
November 28, 2024 – Advancements in AI have the potential to significantly influence medicine. AI algorithms can enhance decision-making in IR by developing predictive models, improving image quality, aiding navigation, and minimizing radiation exposure. In light of these developments, AI in IR has become a major focus of the CIRSE Annual Congress.
